Officer Butler. Overall, crimes are down from last month and vs. last year. Only exception was increase in theft from autos from last month.
CRC
Jalisa reported that Trunk or Treat, despite rainy weather, still attracted more than 100 kids. They will be hosting Breakfast with Santa on 12/8, more details to be provided so can be in next newsletter.

Jes provided recap of the Open House, waiting on Jered (City Planning) to share the feedback provided, future meetings TBD.
- o New Year’s Eve Event – Rob Wetterstroem
Rob is the lead for this year’s event. Will be a kid friendly event, on the Esplanade, 7-9pm, Rozzi Fireworks at 8pm. Hot chocolate, games. Looking for volunteers, contact Rob at: rwetterstroem@yahoo.com
- o Hyde Park School Liason – Jason Wilcoxon
Jason spoke about CPS Vision 2020 program to improve the quality of the schools throughout the district, noted that Hyde Park already meets/exceeds all the 2020 goals. There is a survey that all residents are asked to complete, can be found here:

Jason introduced Jerron Gray, new Withrow University High School Principal, and Dave Blockson (alumni president). They provided updates on what is going on at the school, which is celebrating 100th anniversary this year.
· Business – Kenny McNutt Jon Bernier
Jon recapped the Business Happy Hour hosted by Madtree on 10/29. They are looking to host quarterly Happy Hour events, and Oakley Pub & Grill host the next one in January, details forthcoming.
Kenny also looking to have informal coffee meetings, hopefully on a monthly basis – first one tentatively scheduled for 12/4, 7:30-8:30am, at RedTree. More details to come.

- o Election Committee – Sean Fausto, Evan Nolan, Colleen Reynolds - December OCC Trustee Elections
Sean reminded everyone that elections will be held at the 12/4 meeting, the deadline to be on the ballot and have bio published was 11/6, but people who meet the eligibility requirements could put their name in up until the 12/4 meeting – they just wouldn’t be on printed ballot.
There are 4 positions up for election, 3 members are looking to run again (Kenny, Jason, Dan) and one (Jes) will not run again. Sandy Gross, owner of Blue Manatee/Sleepy Bee/Brazee Art, has stepped up as a candidate.
- 2019 OCC Schedule of Events Proposal – Jon Bernier
Jon volunteered to take the lead for the events, is looking to have a schedule out by end of year to help with planning/logistics/sponsors. He has received some initial input and came up with 5 events (in the picture).
We committed to post this on the website so residents can review and provide feedback.
- Paige Scheidler – Resident – Masonic Temple Redevelopment
Paige presented update of residents’ efforts to organize and gather information about the potential development of the Masonic Temple property. There were @ 10 other residents at the meeting. They have identified contacts for each of the 4 streets involved and started a petition at change.org - https://www.change.org/p/oakley-community-council-and-prevent-rezoning-of-the-masonic-temple-lodge-property-at-ridge-and-madison-in-oakley
Thanked OCC members for advice & input so far and is looking to keep communications open.
Dave shared communication from Matt Shad (city Zoning Administrator):
“There have been some inquiries for commercial redevelopment on the corner property to which Zoning Administration has relayed the limitations of the existing zoning and the many practical difficulties find both a site plan, traffic circulation, and practical development proposal that would/could be reasonable with the abutting properties. To date, nothing more has materialized than what ifs.”
Was reported that City planning staff confirmed that they have not been contacted at this point.
- Oakley Flag - Lacey Haslam
Lacey provided an update on the development of the Oakley flag, part of a larger effort to design flags for each of the city’s 52 neighborhoods. She presented 3 options. Resident’s provided some input: not excited about how close colors are to FC Cincy, need to include oak trees.

- School of Rock – Scott Higgins Josh Ullrich
Josh, owner of the local School of Rock franchise, presented 2 videos showing intro and performance classes and talked about their philosophy. They’ve just opened a new location at 6710 Madison, have joined OakleyNow as business member, and encouraged residents to check out their programs.

- Oakley Connection Update – Christopher Hildebrant, Morelia Group
Chris asked to present updates on the initial annex development (Oakley Connection) and plans for the second component (Encore of Oakley) for the remaining annex property. The updated presentation will be added to website.
Highlights:
- o Oakley Connection includes Day Care Center (which is now being built closer to Madison), Tide Dry Cleaners (which concierge drive up service), Holtman’s Doughnuts, Tropical Smoothie Café, McAlister’s Deli, GE Credit Union, full service Starbucks (with drive-thru). They are aiming for April 2019 openings.
- o Encore of Oakley is the development of the second part of the annex property. It will be built along Vandercar and currently include a day spa, Condado Tacos, a chipotle variant (??) and a chicken salad restaurant (??).
- o To address some of the traffic concerns, they will be adding a left turn signal from Madison into Vandercar and will replace the existing concrete median on Madison (in front of Madtree) with center turn lane.
- o They have had discussions with Crossroads for use of 50 parking spots against the Vandecar side, and with Madtree of use of spots around the day care center for evenings and weekends (when center would be closed).
- o They received abatement for the Day Care Center, were approved for PACE loan for remainder of Oakley Connection development. PACE is a state loan program, administered by the city locally, that encourages developers to build more energy efficient buildings. Loans are repaid as part of property taxes (in addition to their property tax).
- o They will be applying for PACE loan for the Encore of Oakley project, which according to Bob Bertsch (City Department of Community & Economic Development) the city is now requesting something from the OCC showing support for the project.
Chris had originally not thought he would need anything from the board at this meeting, and that is what he had communicated to Jes. Bob corrected him that, yes, a letter of support was required, and that without it, the PACE application could still go forward to city council for vote but not guarantee without community backing. Jes recommended a letter od No Objection in lieu of a letter of support, since we were not prepared to discuss that option. Colleen motioned that letter of No Objection be written (based on what was presented) to allow them to proceed with their PACE application. Joe seconded. All voted in favor. Colleen will draft the letter.
- Hubbard Radio Cincinnati – Mike Fredrick – Proposed construction with Jordan Widner and Jim Bryant
Bob Bertsch, City Department of Community & Economic Development, introduced the Hubbard team, stated they were the type of client they were looking for to occupy the vacant land on Kennedy (across from CinFed). They would get an abatement on the property, but pay full payroll taxes.
Hubbard owns 4 FM radio stations, 2060 Digital Marketing division, and cincysaver.com. They currently rent in a couple locations, looking to establish ownership and looking to build new headquarters in Oakley. Full presentation to be added to the website. They are looking to continue being active in the community and addressed questions about the size of tower.
They were seeking a letter of support for their plans. Jon motioned that we approve this, Colleen seconded. All voted in approval. Colleen will write the letter and provide for review.
There was some concern about the abatements from audience member, but Bob mentioned they part of the process and is trade-off to maintain businesses in the city.
