I saw the agenda and that there will be a topic on “Stacy Lehman’s board position.” I heard that Stacy would be stepping down at the end of this year and I want to thank her for her tremendous work to connect the community! She was the board’s biggest community champion and her perspective will be extremely productive and valuable!

Can you elaborate on what this topic will be? Will the board be taking applicants for the open position to fill the remaining year of that term? If so, how should applicants inform the board of their interest? With the last 3 openings that I can remember, the community was given advance notice to express interest in joining.

Also, how will the board emphasize and reinforce the need for consistent attendance for all trustees, both new and returning? There’s a problem with some trustees having poor attendance at the Tuesday meetings, which are necessary to ensure accurate advocacy, representation of the community, and foster good dialogue and meaningful action. OCC Trustees have said many times that if a community member wants to be heard, then they need to show up. I hope the same standard should hold true for them. The OCC bylaws (sec 4.06a) state that absence from 3 or more meetings is grounds for removal. Given how diligent the board has been this year in using the bylaws to force action, I assume that this will mean that trustees are, at a minimum removed from Officer positions, and repeat offenders are removed. Please clarify.
