We're thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with you and the Oakley Community Council on this exciting project for Oakley! We believe Drawing Dept is well-suited to help bring this new community amenity to life. This project has the potential to be truly transformative, and we're eager to see its positive impact.

This proposal focuses specifically on the design work needed for a successful Neighborhood Business District Improvement Program [NBDIP] grant application. Our goal is to create a comprehensive design document that clearly articulates the project's vision and scope.

While the primary function of this space is to host musical performances, especially the summer concert series, we envision it becoming a versatile community hub—a place for connection and a platform for various initiatives. We've detailed our current understanding of the project's goals and programming below.

Once funding is secured, we will provide a separate proposal outlining the scope and cost of developing construction documents and providing construction administration services.

Our firm takes a ‘design first’ approach. We emphasize personalized service and possess the technical ability to back-up our creativity. Together, with input from the community and project stakeholders, we will design and develop a unique project tailored specifically to our community’s aspirations.

We believe that good design is a process that involves working cooperatively with communities of users to create remarkable, detail filled projects. For us, this means listening and responding to the community’s needs and concerns. While architecture is our field of expertise, we believe the best designs are derived from a collaborative process that takes advantage of the strengths offered by each team member, adding accountability and responsibility to the process. We choose to set aside stereotypical designer ego and pretense in favor of listening and team building. As such, an iterative, working model of design suits us well.

Before we ever start design, we will want to record the ideas you and others have shared with us in the form of a written program. The beginning of this program is included below. We will want to spend more time engaging with council and community members to flesh out the specific program as the project moves forward so that we can ensure a project that delights the community for many years to come.
