CRC Report

If you have ideas for CRC center, submit your ideas to Jalisa Elkins (Community Center Director) at CRC – preschool programs, teaching programs, etc. available at CRC venue. 8/28/18 meet to design flag for Oakley, Madisonville and Pleasant Ridge. Oakley Gators Swim Team finished season last week – finished 2nd in the city!

COMMITTEES

Oakley Master Plan (OMP) Steering Committee

Pedestrian Safety Improvement initiative: pedestrian-triggered rapid flashing beacon will be installed at the crosswalk on Madison Road near Essencha Tea House (3212 Madison Road)

Next public working session for the Oakley master plan in on 9/18 7-9PM.

Business – Kenny McNutt

Kenny to schedule happy hour soon; Kenny shared membership statistics based on various milestones, including: website launch, Daddy Daughter Dance, and Oakley Community Council Connection Newsletter.  

City Hall Liaison – Evan Nolan, Colleen Reynolds, Dan Krohn, Sean Fausto

Former 5/3 site development on Madison Road approved – 19 town homes.

Allston Street cocktail bar parking variance approved.

Colleen & Evan working on Zoning SOP.

Bryan Finn (resident of Drakewood) – undergoing kitchen remodel – needs approval for 2.83ft extension; all abutting neighbors have signed off approving of extension. 

Jon Bernier motions to send a letter of support to the City of Cincinnati’s Zoning Administration Department for 2.83ft expansion on 3847 Drakewood for kitchen remodel, contingent upon all abutting property owners’ approval; Colleen Reynolds seconds. Unanimous approval; motion passes.  

OCC Board of Trustees Action Regarding Personnel

Jes Overly issued a statement regarding the outcomes following the special session that took place on 6/5/18. Following the 6/5/18 special session, Dave Schaff was censured and Chris Mucha was removed from the OCC Board of Trustees.

Dave Schaff addressed audience regarding censure action.

Chris Mucha addressed audience regarding the OCC Board of Trustee’s decision to remove him from the Board, in accordance with the OCC bylaws.

OCC Announcement of Open Board Trustee Position

Oakley Summer Series – Last event 8/31 – Stacy Lehman

8/31 movie night planned with 80’s theme. Always seeking volunteers for set up and tear down of events. Email stacy.lehman@oakleynow.com if you are willing and able to volunteer on 8/31!

Cincinnati Neighborhood Games – Dan Krohn & Rob Wetterstroem

Oakley won 13 medals total: 6 gold; 4 silver; 3 bronze. Dan announced each of those who received medals. Special thanks to Craig Rosen, Jes Overly, Sean Fausto and Karen Floyd for bringing their kids and friends to games to participate.

Oakley Community Council Connection Electronic Newsletter – Dan Krohn

First OCC Connection Newsletter issued 8/1; this will be published monthly. Next edition will be sent out on 8/30. The OCC Connection Newsletter creates additional OCC membership benefit, additional communication benefit, expands on more issues and conversation, reminds everyone of upcoming meetings and events, etc.  

Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance – Laksh Khurana – OHIO PACE Program

“Efficient Financing for Building Efficiency” PACE financing offers commercial property owners the opportunity to leverage property assessment financing to pay for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. It is designed to assist commercial property owners with access to affordable, extended-term financing for energy-related projects for their buildings.

Approve 6/5/18 Meeting Minutes

Motion to approve 6/5/18 meeting minutes with the amendment to clarify the OCC moved to special meeting on 6/5/18 by Evan Nolan; seconded by Dan Krohn. 7 approved; Dave and Stacy abstained. 6/5/18 minutes approved.

OCC Additional Landscaping Approval

OCC approved of $2500 expense for landscaping from NBD fund in June; need approval for additional $1750 to clean and weed tree beds along Madison.

Cody Gausvik motioned to approve $1750 for additional landscape work; Evan Nolan seconded.

OCC hasn’t received second round of NBD money from City; no support to pay for additional landscaping work. Cody plans to do research to see if City will clean and weed beds; Colleen Reynolds to send Cody contact information for someone at the City who can assist.

Cody Gausvik motions to table motion regarding additional landscape work until after OCC has a chance to research and speak with some contacts at the City.

June and July OCC financial approval is tabled until the next meeting since Jason Wilcoxon was absent during the meeting.

Craig Rozen – suggestion to move speaker cards to the beginning of the meeting; encourages everyone to offer help to homeless people in our city before calling the police.

New Business:

  • ·        Next Third Thursday Meeting 8/16/18, Crossroads 7PM
  • ·        Next Tuesday OCC Meeting 9/4/18, Oakley Recreation Center 7PM
  • ·        Bios for open OCC Trustee position due to OCC prior to 8/16/18; new Trustee to be announced at 9/4/18 meeting.

Kenny McNutt motions to adjourn meeting; seconded by Stacy Lehman. Meeting ends at 9:00PM
